The triple Group 1 winning son of Dylan Thomas, Dylan Mouth, has been retired to stud and will join the Worsall Grange roster for 2019. He was initially trained in Italy by Marco’s brother Stefano Botti, where he remained unbeaten in his first five starts, including a convincing victory in the Group 2 Derby Italiano and a campaign which included victories in the Group 1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club, Gran Premio di Milano and Premio Roma GBI Racing.
“He’s been a great horse for the family. He won three Group One races in Italy for my brother before he joined us.”
After transferring to Marco’s Prestige Place Stables, Dylan Mouth won on his first start for the yard, winning the Group 2 Premio di Milano at San Siro. The next season he went on to defy top-weight, showcasing his toughness and a tenacious attitude to land The Old Newton Cup at Haydock comfortably by two and a quarter lengths to the Mark Johnston trained Soldier In Action.
At Newmarket this season, he ran a gallant race in defeat, finishing 2nd in the Betway Fred Archer Stakes Listed race, before bouncing back to winning ways in July to win the Group 3 John Smith’s Silver Cup Stakes at York Racecourse.
“It has been an immense pleasure to train such a tough horse, he has always been straightforward and extremely versatile horse that always tries his hardest.”
The seven-year-old who picked up just shy of 1 million in prize money, will now join the British jumps stallion ranks and will stand at Worsall Grange Stud in North Yorkshire for the 2019 breeding season, a fee is yet to be announced.
“He is a good-looking horse with great conformation and we are looking forward to following his progeny in the coming years.”
