With another Flat Season coming to a close, it’s time to reflect on the year we have had. It has been a promising season for Prestige Place with plenty of exciting young horses working their way through the ranks.
One of our flagship horses of the season is two year old filly Capla Temptress. The daughter of Lope de Vega is the winner of three races from four starts for us, including a win in the Grade 1 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack back in September. Capla Temptress went on to run in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar for trainer William Mott and is now set to return to training at Prestige Place ready for her three year old campaign.
Another stand out filly from the season, Aljazzi started the season off by landing the Snowdrop Fillies’ Stakes listed race at Kempton in April. She had one more start before lining up in the Group 2 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot, Aljazzi ran a gallant race to finish second on the day to the French trained Qemah. In September she went on to win the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown Park in impressive style finishing 3 lengths ahead of Nathra.
Fanciful Angel is another of our flagship horses during the 2017 season. The globetrotting son of Dark Angel, started the year in Dubai winning the Mina Rashid Handicap back in January. His next winning start came in a handicap race at Chelmsford Racecourse in May. Fanciful Angel had one more start in the UK, before heading to America to line up in the Arlington Million as a 73-1 outsider. He ran a phenomenal race to finish second in the Grade 1 at Arlington Park.
The talented two year old Speak In Colours, also caught the eye this season. The son of Excelebration is the winner of two races from three starts to date. His most recent win came in the Listed Doncaster Stakes at Doncaster Racecourse in October. Speak In Colours now heads for his winter break in good order and will brought back to fitness ready for next season. All being well the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot will be the main aim for the colt next season.
The team at Prestige Place still have a busy few months ahead with a number of horses staying in training to be campaigned on the all-weather over the winter months. We now start to look ahead to the next turf season with plenty of quality yearlings to look forward to next year.
