Fanciful Angel ran a phenomenal race to finish second in the Grade 1 Arlington Million on Saturday at Arlington Park. The son of Dark Angel went off as a 73-1 outsider in the 12 runner field on his first appearance in America.
Fanciful Angel was partnered by jockey Daniel Muscutt who was also having his first start on American soil. The pair had a good position throughout the race, they started to make up ground over two furlongs out and went on to finish the race half a length behind the winner Beach Patrol.
Marco was delighted with Fanciful Angel’s performance and paid tribute to his owners, Touch Gold Racing, who had been keen for the horse to run in that race.
Marco was also full of praise for jockey Daniel Muscutt, for whom the race was a first both in the US and at the highest level.
“It was a great ride by Daniel, we couldn’t have expected a better result and this was clearly his best performance to date.”
